The NDP are big on carbon taxes.
During the middle of a massive economic downturn, they decided it would be the perfect time to bring in one of the largest tax hikes in Alberta history.
They said it would be good for the environment, that it would get us ‘social licence’ for new pipelines.
They were wrong.
It came with no environmental gain and a lot of economic pain.
Yikes! 😬

"The government report said the Notley carbon tax would reduce the number of jobs created by between 10,000 and 16,000 a year."#ableg pic.twitter.com/S1YM1fpNrM
A government report showed that the NDP carbon tax would cost anywhere from 10,000 to 16,000 jobs per year.
It’s why we promised Albertans we’d scrap the NDP carbon tax. In fact, it was the first bill we passed as a United Conervative government.
And it’s why we told Albertans we would fight the Trudeau carbon tax.
The NDP and pro-carbon tax pundits told us our fight against the federal carbon tax was pointless.

We proudly stood with Albertans and fought the Trudeau carbon tax. A tax that the court called a "constitutional Trojan horse."#ableg pic.twitter.com/H855XogSgr
The NDP and left wing pundits told us there was no point in fighting the federal carbon tax.
We proved them wrong when Alberta’s highest court ruled that Ottawa’s carbon tax is unconstitutional and a Trojan horse into provincial rights.
But guess what?
The NDP still believe a carbon tax is the right policy, despite Albertans soundly rejecting it at the polls twice in 2019.
The NDP only stands for higher taxes and risky economic experiments. They’re more interested in pleasing fringe elements in their base than actually standing up for Alberta.
