NDP MLAs would really like you to forget about how they acted before their shock election win in 2015.
Like how their Finance Critic Shannon Phillips wrote the forward to a book about how a protest a day can keep a pipeline a way with her Greenpeace ally and friend Mike Hudema.
She tried to shrug that off as just some youthful idealism in support of a friend.
But when she was with the Alberta Federation of Labour, an organization that has a long history opposing any new pipeline, she showed up to pipeline protest events and intervening at the National Energy Board to oppose Northern Gateway.
In 2008, NDP’s Advanced Education Critic David Eggen proudly shouted on the steps of the legislature “no new approvals” for any oilsands projects.
And Rachel Notley proudly showed up to protest events organized by Greenpeace and the Sierra Club, standing with protestors with signs that read “No Tarsands No Tankers No Pipelines No Problem.”.
And in the Fall of 2019, several NDP MLAs showed up to a rally that chanted “keep the fossil fuels in the ground”.
The fact is, you can’t trust the NDP to stand up for Alberta. You can’t trust the NDP to stand up for our energy workers. They’re too interested in keeping their friends in the no pipelines ever movement happy.
