Gil McGowan is the President of the Alberta Federation of Labour (AFL).

He’s also a close friend of Rachel Notley and the NDP. Very close.

In fact, the NDP constitution gives McGowan’s two seats on their provincial council.

So when he speaks, you better believe he’s saying what the NDP are all thinking. He’s one of many NDP insiders who does their dirty work for them in the media and online.

And just minutes after our United Conservative government announced the new Choice in Education Act, McGowan flew off the handle and called parents of students that attend faith-based schools or homeschool their children “nutbars”.

Let’s call the comment what it is: religious bigotry, displayed against Albertans of all faith backgrounds.

It was roundly denounced, except from Rachel Notley’s NDP.

The fact is, the NDP have long worked to oppose Alberta’s proud and strong history of choice in education.

They made it clear that they believe centralized decision makers from the government bureaucracy should have more influence than parents regarding a child’s education.

And now they’re complicit in allowing one of their own openly attack members of Alberta’s diverse faith communities.

It’s shameful.

Help us fight back! Share this story and let Albertans know where the NDP stand on school choice!
